The High Court, in Pretoria, has struck off the roll, the urgent application to prevent the basic education department from publishing matric results. The Information Regulator brought the case before the court in relation to the release of the 2024 matric results on forums including newspapers. The regulator says the publishing of the 2024 matric results which will be released on Monday would violate the learners' right to privacy. In delivering the judgement, the presiding judge had this to say.

Pretoria High Court strikes urgent application to stop publishing of 2024 matric results off the roll

The legal representative of alleged political fixerBrown Mogotsi, says they will appeal the decision by the  Johannesburg Magistrate Court to deny him bail. Mogotsi is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, discharging a firearm in a built-up area, defeating the ends of justice. He allegedly staged a hit on his life in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg in November last year. The matter has been postponed to 12th of this month. Bongiwe Zwane spoke to SABC reporter Refilwe Mekoa
