Laura Pop testifies on officials’ financial disclosures at Madlanga Commission

View descriptionShare

Senior Financial Sector Specialist at the World Bank and a member of the Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative team, Laura Pop, Testifying before the Madlanga commission says prosecutors who resign before the vetting process begins can leave with their full pension or other separation benefits. She says, however, that those seeking to re-enter the institutions would still have to undergo an extraordinary evaluation process. Pop says the vetting process also examines the sources of prosecutors' assets, including loans from family members or friends, to establish whether those loans could realistically have been afforded.
