A group of parents from Ward 70 in Fleurhof, south of Johannesburg, has marched alongside 30 learners, to the Gauteng Education Department's Johannesburg West District Office in a last-ditch effort to have their children placed in a nearby high school. The parents say their children have been placed at Die Burger High School in Florida, which they complain, is about 17 kilometers away from their homes. They are demanding that their children be placed at at Florida Park High School, which is located 5 kilometers from Fleurhof. This comes after Gauteng Education MEC, Matome Chiloane asked parents to give him at least three days to resolve learner placement problems in the province.
