The Pretoria High Court is today expected to make a ruling in the 20 years illegal cigarettes trading allegation against Hennie  Delport  by SARS. The R264 million case is against Delport for allegedly claiming false VAT and exercise duties from Sars resumes in the High Court in Pretoria today. Delport has cited collusion between the South African Revenue Service (Sars) and British American Tobacco (BAT) to shut him down. Chief Electoral Officer IEC Sy Mamabolo has announced a special voter registration weekend will be on 20 and 21 June 2026. Mamabolo says this is designed to make it easier for eligible South Africans to register or update their details closer to where they ordinarily reside. Mamabolo says once the voting date has been announced, voters must vote at the voting station where they are registered. Mamabol says There's no legal provision for voting outside your registered station in local government elections (unlike some national setups). was briefing the media to provide an update on preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 Local Government Elections (municipal elections). Police say are executing seven warrant of arrests in relation to a R10 million insurance murder for payout scheme today in Limpopo. The arrests are linked to former police Sergeant Rachel Kutumela. All suspects are believed to have taken out life and funeral policies on 10 people who were later murdered. Three arrests have been made this morning. These include two brothers and a sangoma. More arrests are imminent.  Kutumela was arrested in October 2024 while on duty. She has since been dismissed from the SAPS. She is in custody with three others which include her sister, daughter and elder brother. Athlenda Mathe national police spokesperson explains

KZN police say two suspects who were wanted in connection with several cases of murder and attempted murder were shot and fatally wounded in a shootout with police in the Mzomusha area, Newtown C Section, in Inanda on Monday morning. Police say they were searching for at least five suspects, and during an operation that started just after midnight on Monday morning, two of the suspects were located in the Mzomusha area with the assistance of a drone. Police say they approached the house in which the suspects were hiding, and a shootout ensued, which resulted in the two suspects, aged 20 and 25 years old, sustaining fatal gunshot wounds. Two firearms have since been found in the possession of the suspects. A search for the remaining suspects is ongoing.
