Victims of apartheid have been sleeping outside the Constitutional Court for a month now demanding reparations for human rights violations under apartheid. According to Dr Marjorie Jobson the victims outside court are part of a group of people who never got an opportunity to submit their statements to the TRC but qualify to receive the grant from the Presidents Fund. The fund was established in terms of the Promotion of National Unity and Reconciliation Act of 1995 and  is administered by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) unit within the department of justice and constitutional development. AmaZulu chairman Sandile Zungu is making it clear that his ambitions for South African football could mean the end of his time at the Durban club. Zungu is a candidate for the SAFA presidency — and says that if he wins the election, he will step down as AmaZulu boss. He says the two roles would create a conflict of interest, and that the national football body would have to become his sole focus.SAfm sports anchor Jon Gericke has more

Zungu hints at possible AmaZulu departure

Former Justice Minister Dr Penuel Maduna says South Africans had to engage among themselves to shape their own future, a process that eventually led to the establishment of CODESA. Maduna is testifying at the TRC cases inquiry. He says following Nelson Mandela's release on 11 February 1990, various groups began engaging to find a peaceful way forward after much violence in the country under apartheid. Maduna disputes claims that former President Thabo Mbeki appointed someone to coordinate these discussions, saying they instead approached various political leaders and groups directly to facilitate meetings.

Former Minister says CODESA shaped South Africa’s future at TRC inquiry 

Despite having some of its candidates not accepted due to what it calls IEC glitch, the ANC says almost 97 percent of its members are ready to contest elections. Currently councilor candidates from 45 political parties including the ANC were not loaded onto the IEC system on its 28 August deadline. But at the last count, the ANC loaded over nine thousand candidates with some candidates in six councils including Mangaung, Umshwathi, Sundays River Valley and Walter Sisulu not allowed. Speaking to the media in Johannesburg earlier today, ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says although the numbers are few, they have a substantial numbers of their members allowed. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Political Analyst, Professor Dirk Kotze....
