The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) says it will pursue full prosecution of Daybreak for abandonment, neglect, and unnecessary cruelty of animals. This comes after it the NSPCA culled over 200-thousand chickens at poultry farm operated by Daybreak Foods near Delmas, Mpumalanga. The chickens were severely neglected, left without feed for days, resulting in mass cannibalism.
