The National Assembly has just held a debate followed a draft resolution submitted by EFF leader Julius Malema calling for the establishment of an Ad Hoc committee to investigate the continued presence of apartheid-era statues and memorials in public spaces. Political parties that took part in the debate expressed mixed views. While some supported the establishment of such a committee others said it would be a fruitless and wasteful expenditure.
