Police in Gauteng have arrested 92 suspected illegal miners during Operation Prosper/Karabo in West Village, Krugersdorp. The operation began this morning, with SANDF members cordoning off the area before police and Home Affairs officials conducted targeted enforcement operations. Two firearms, ammunition, explosives, gas cylinders and illegal mining equipment, including phendukas, were seized. The multidisciplinary operation targets illegal mining, gangsterism and related criminal activities across Gauteng. Gauteng police spokesperson is Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party's First Deputy President, Duduzane  Zuma, says his father and party leader, former President Jacob Zuma, will return to the campaign trail before the November local government elections. Duduzane Zuma was addressing hundreds of party supporters and members of the community at a mini rally in uMgababa in the south coast of Durban. He says the past two weeks have been difficult for the family amid reports about his father's health. However, he has expressed confidence that Jacob Zuma will resume his duties soon. He says they are confident that the party will do well at the local government polls and that  Zuma will become South Africa's president again in 2029. Khalesakhe Mbhense reports.......
