Black Business Federation calls on government to formalise business forums as a means to counter criminal construction mafia syndicates

The Gauteng High Court Division in Pretoria, has granted the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) a preservation order to seize high value properties relating to the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) scandal. The order states that various assets acquired through the misappropriation of funds from the NLC should be kept in reasonable condition until a forfeiture order is granted. Civil society organisations under the banner of Defend Our Democracy, have called on South Africans to not remain silent in the fight against corruption and the targeting of whistle-blowers. Various organisation have gathered outside the SARS offices in Pretoria in order to make their voices heard. This follows an assassinations attempt on the life of Advocate Coreth Naude from KwaZulu-Natal. Naude was investigating a R37 million tax case involving businesswoman, Shauwn Mkhize at the time of the attack. The incident also comes after the murders of curator Cloete Murray and his son, who were working with Naude. Here is Pumla Williams, speaking on behalf of the Kathrada Foundation...
