Murder convict, Nthuthuko Shoba has been denied leave to appeal his life sentence for orchestrating the murder of his pregnant girlfriend Tshegofatso Pule. Pule was eight-months pregnant when she was killed by Muzikayise Malepane - a man hired by Shoba. Shoba'ss defence lawyer believes a higher court could come to a different conclusion about some facts. Hitman Muzikayise Malepane's testimony formed part of crucial state evidence against Shoba during the trial. Gauteng Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Fred Kekana, presenting the crime statistics for Gauteng for the first quarter of the 2026 financial year. Kekana says overall contact crime in Gauteng decreased by three percent during the first quarter. However, attempted murder, assault with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, and common assault increased. Kekana revealed Gender-based violence and femicide cases declined by 9.1 percent, while property-related crime fell by 2.7 percent.
