Makhura tell Life Esidemi Inquest that he was livid after Mahlangu, officials gave him details of the first 36 deaths

 Former Gauteng Premier, David Makhura has told the Life Esidimeni Inquest that  he was furious when he learned of the deaths of the first 36 patients to die after being removed from the health department's care. Makhura earlier refuted allegations that the Premier's budget committee took a decision to terminate the Life Esidimeni contact, a move that resulted in the deaths of 144 mental health patients.  Former Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu earlier testified that the decision to terminate the contract was made by Makhura's budget committee.
