The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal has confirmed that seven learners from Bongucele Secondary School in Mthwalume on the South Coast of the province, have been treated at a clinic for alleged food poisoning, after consuming snacks at a nearby tuckshop. Activists call for swift prosecution and imprisonment for men who impregnate children between ages of 10 and 14-years-old

The Gauteng Department of Health says an investigation is underway following the death of a 32-year-old Johannesburg, who died along with her unborn baby, while seeking medical attention at the Westbury Clinic. The circumstances leading to the deaths are yet to be established, with community members staging a protest outside the facility earlier this week. Gauteng Health MEC, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko earlier said she had engaged with the bereaved family, as the department wait to establish the facts on the incident.
