KwaZulu Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, says that the police expect to uncover more victims of crimes committed by the main suspect in murder of Olorato Mongale. This is after Philangenkosi Makhanya was killed in the early hours of this morning* in shootout with the police in Amanzimtoti- south of Durban. Mkhwanazi said that they received tip offs regarding Makhanya's whereabouts. He says Makhanya was sought in connection with several other kidnapping cases. National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has told the Adhoc Committee investigating criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system that the Political Killings Task Team was disbanded to prevent the investigation of Gauteng cases. Masemola says from the communications or chats between Matlala and Mogotsi the minister of police was being communicated to or kept informed.

KwaZulu-Natal police say a 22-year-old suspect who had been arrested for attempted murder was shot and killed after attacking officers inside the holding cells at Ntuzuma police station on Monday morning. Police say the suspect overpowered two officers, took keys to the main door and assaulted them before grabbing a firearm from responding officers and opening fire. Tactical teams later intervened and fatally wounded him. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the scuffle. Authorities say the situation was contained after several tense minutes. KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda  explains
