The ongoing strike by municipal workers in the eThekwini Municipality has begun to severely impact public healthcare facilities in KwaZulu-Natal. A number of facilities around the province have reported challenges in daily operations, as the wage strike by members affiliated with the South African Municipal Workers' Union rages on. Doctors and nurses at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital says they are battling without electricity for a third day, with community clinics in Hambanathi and Craigieburn having been forced to close their doors due to protestors blocking the roads and intimidating staff. KwaZulu-Natal healthcare facilities hardest hit by ongoing strike by eThekwini municipal workers

Former head of the National Prosecuting Authority Vusi Pikoli has told the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that the independence of the National Prosecuting Authority must be protected, even while maintaining cooperation with the government. Pikoli says his approach was always based on tactical flexibility, sharing information where necessary without compromising the NPA's constitutional independence. Pikoli also recalled a meeting with several ministers where concerns were raised about prosecutions linked to apartheid-era activities. He says some feared that pursuing certain cases could trigger renewed calls to prosecute former liberation movement members for actions before 1994. Suspended SAPS Organized Crime Head Richard Shibiri says he did not get himself involved but was tasked by General Shadrack Sibiya to find out what charges Katiso KT Molefe was arrested on. Shibiri was responding to Evidence Leader Lee Seegels-Ncube's question on his invoment in the arrest of Katiso KT Molefe whilst he was on leave and off duty.
