The ongoing strike by municipal workers in the eThekwini Municipality has begun to severely impact public healthcare facilities in KwaZulu-Natal. A number of facilities around the province have reported challenges in daily operations, as the wage strike by members affiliated with the South African Municipal Workers' Union rages on. Doctors and nurses at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital says they are battling without electricity for a third day, with community clinics in Hambanathi and Craigieburn having been forced to close their doors due to protestors blocking the roads and intimidating staff.
