Dr Mathole Motshekga has withdrawn as the guardian of Rain Queen-elect Princess Masalanabo Modjadji. Motshekga has written to the High Court in Pretoria to withdraw as a guardian and applicant in the interdict to stop the coronation of Masalanabo's brother Lekukela as king of Balobedu. He is citing that he can't afford the costs of the legal dispute between him and the Modjadjis. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Dr Mathole Motshekga

The party describes the document not as a genuine pursuit of justice, but as a politically motivated attempt to smear and isolate the Secretary-General, Fikile Mbalula. AfriForum's private prosecutions unit head, Gerrie Nel, says they are prepared to escalate legal action over allegations linked to ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula and his 2016 Dubai family trip which cost over R600-thousand. Nel briefed the media earlier today that AfriForum has exhausted engagements with the National Prosecuting Authority. He says if no decisive action is taken, they will pursue private prosecution.
