"I don't think government is fair in saying doctors don't want to work in rural areas" - Unemployed doctors accuse government of turning blind eye to their plight

Concerns are mounting over the growing issue of unemployed doctors who have completed their community service but remain without placements. The South African Medical Association (SAMA) has raised the alarm, reporting that 1,800 doctors nationwide are left in limbo. To address this crisis, SAMA has initiated a survey to assess its scope and is calling on the government to create job opportunities, boost healthcare funding, and implement long-term solutions. The association warns that failure to address these pressing issues could result in legal action. For more on this, Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Ruhann Botha, an unemployed doctor
