Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana has decided to withdraw the exemption of Eskom from the Public Finance Management Act. Godongwana appeared before  Parliament's Standing committees on the Auditor-General, Finance, Public Accounts, Appropriations and the Public Enterprises Portfolio this morning. He says they are suspending the decision following a meeting with the Auditor General to have further consultation with the auditor-general and Eskom's auditors.

Godongwana backtracks on decision to exempt Eskom from reporting on irregular expenditure

Rand Water says high water consumption by some municipalities is placing severe pressure on the supply system. It has repeatedly urged customers to reduce usage and help stabilise supplies.  The water utility warns that municipalities exceeding their allocated water volumes may face supply restrictions. This could result in low water pressure or intermittent water supply in affected areas. Rand Water spokesperson is Makenosi Maroo
