Twenty-three children have died in Gauteng due to food-borne illnesses. This follows the recent food-borne illness outbreak in the province which have led to the hospitalisation and deaths of some learners. The learners consumed snacks or food purchased from school vendors and spaza shops. A total of 441 cases have been reported.
