The illicit alcohol market has grown by 55% over the past seven years, outpacing growth of the legal alcohol market, and is now worth R25.1bn. Member of the public Kishene Chetty has told the Ad Hoc Committee investigating criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system that he was dragged to court over matters or cases that were not registered with the court. Responding to Evidence Leader Advocate Norman Arendse, Chetty said he has been harassed several times by law enforcement.

Police in KZN are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder following an incident at a fuel station near a mall in Westville, where one person was found dead inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds and another was found dead after he reportedly got out of the vehicle and fell to death as he allegedly attempted to jump over a wall. Police's preliminary investigations revealed that the BMW vehicle was fitted with cloned number plates. The driver of the BMW vehicle surrendered and was arrested. Two firearms were found inside the BMW vehicle. KZN police spokesperson Col. Robert Netshiunda

Lieutenant-General Francinah Ntombenhle Vuma has told the Ad Hoc Committe investigating criminal infiltration, corruption and political interfernce in the justice system that Publlic Works kept on demanding millions for an inhabitable building. The Telkom Towers were purchased in 2016 for nearly R700-million to serve as the headquarters for the South African Police Service in Pretoria. Speaking to evidence leader Lerato Vilakazi, Vuma says only R10 million was spent on the work done on the building
