eThekwini mayor - Cyril Xaba - says the municipality will investigate allegations by Umbumbulu residents that drivers of municipal water tankers are selling water instead of delivering it free of charge. This after a 38-year old resident died after being run over by the tanker after an altercation between residents who have been without water for a week, and the driver. The police is investigating the incident. Xaba says areas in the south of the metro are struggling with water supply due to aging infrastructure and population shifts. Dries Liebenberg  reports.

Banyana Banyana are banking on momentum, some luck and a favour from Ivory Coast as they go in search of a quarterfinal berth in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco. The South African women's football team must beat Burkina Faso in their last Group B match in Casablanca this evening and hope Ivory Coast does the same to Tanzania to stay alive in the tournament. And coach Desiree Ellis realises this is their last chance saloon. SAfm sports anchor has more Jon Gericke.

Westbury residents in Johannesburg are taking to the streets to protest against spiraling crime and gangsterism which has paralysed the area. The residents are demanding urgent action against escalating gang violence and drug-related crime. The community is calling for lasting solutions instead of temporary police deployments. Residents have criticised poor police visibility, saying officers patrol in convoys rather than engaging with the community through stop-and-search operations. Westbury remains one of Gauteng's gang violence hotspots, with many residents living in fear. Sakina kamwendo spoke to Jefferson Alistair Johnson, Westbury community activist.
