eThekwini Municipality under fire after issuing residents with inaccurate bills

View descriptionShare

The eThekwini Municipality has apologised to affected consumers who received inaccurate bills due to an error in the city's Indigent Policy. As many residents of residential flat units have received inflated water billing in their most recent eThekwini bills, the city has released a statement informing residents that 6 liters of water are available to households with an annual income of R250 000 and below. Many homes above this value have been given the free 6KL since 2020 in error. The municipality now plans to recover amounts credited to approximately 49,000 accounts. Now for more on this we are joined on the line by Ward 23 councellor from eThekwini Municipalty Alicia Kisson
