Officials of the education department in the Eastern Cape are visiting the family of a female student from David Mama High School in Mdantsane. This follows a bullying incident of the 18 year old pupil inside a bus used to ferry learners. The video of the assault incident went viral on social media. The scholar transport operator has since been suspended following the incident. Parents are demanding action be taken against the perpetrators. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Spokesperson of the Education Department in the province, Vuyiseka Mboxela.

Eastern Cape Education Department given 4-14 days to conclude investigation into viral school transport bullying incident 

KwaZulu-Natal police say a 22-year-old suspect who had been arrested for attempted murder was shot and killed after attacking officers inside the holding cells at Ntuzuma police station on Monday morning. Police say the suspect overpowered two officers, took keys to the main door and assaulted them before grabbing a firearm from responding officers and opening fire. Tactical teams later intervened and fatally wounded him. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the scuffle. Authorities say the situation was contained after several tense minutes. Suspect shot dead in Ntuzuma police cells shootout

Former head of the National Prosecuting Authority Vusi Pikoli has told the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that the independence of the National Prosecuting Authority must be protected, even while maintaining cooperation with the government. Pikoli says his approach was always based on tactical flexibility, sharing information where necessary without compromising the NPA's constitutional independence. Pikoli also recalled a meeting with several ministers where concerns were raised about prosecutions linked to apartheid-era activities. He says some feared that pursuing certain cases could trigger renewed calls to prosecute former liberation movement members for actions before 1994. Suspended SAPS Organized Crime Head Richard Shibiri says he did not get himself involved but was tasked by General Shadrack Sibiya to find out what charges Katiso KT Molefe was arrested on. Shibiri was responding to Evidence Leader Lee Seegels-Ncube's question on his invoment in the arrest of Katiso KT Molefe whilst he was on leave and off duty.
