Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Andrew Whitfield has allegedly been sacked as the Deputy Minister of Trade & Industry in the GNU Cabinet.This is said to have been confirmed by the Presidency who state that the move was made in terms of Section 93(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 by President Cyril Ramaphosa.The President has thanked the former deputy minister for the time he served in the role. National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has told the Adhoc Committee investigating criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system that the Political Killings Task Team was disbanded to prevent the investigation of Gauteng cases. Masemola says from the communications or chats between Matlala and Mogotsi the minister of police was being communicated to or kept informed.

KwaZulu-Natal police say a 22-year-old suspect who had been arrested for attempted murder was shot and killed after attacking officers inside the holding cells at Ntuzuma police station on Monday morning. Police say the suspect overpowered two officers, took keys to the main door and assaulted them before grabbing a firearm from responding officers and opening fire. Tactical teams later intervened and fatally wounded him. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the scuffle. Authorities say the situation was contained after several tense minutes. KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda  explains
