Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Andrew Whitfield has allegedly been sacked as the Deputy Minister of Trade & Industry in the GNU Cabinet.This is said to have been confirmed by the Presidency who state that the move was made in terms of Section 93(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 by President Cyril Ramaphosa.The President has thanked the former deputy minister for the time he served in the role. Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry; Andrew Whitfield sacked 

KwaZulu-Natal police say a 22-year-old suspect who had been arrested for attempted murder was shot and killed after attacking officers inside the holding cells at Ntuzuma police station on Monday morning. Police say the suspect overpowered two officers, took keys to the main door and assaulted them before grabbing a firearm from responding officers and opening fire. Tactical teams later intervened and fatally wounded him. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the scuffle. Authorities say the situation was contained after several tense minutes. KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda  explains

Suspect shot dead in Ntuzuma police cells shootout

Former head of the National Prosecuting Authority Vusi Pikoli has told the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that the independence of the National Prosecuting Authority must be protected, even while maintaining cooperation with the government. Pikoli says his approach was always based on tactical flexibility, sharing information where necessary without compromising the NPA's constitutional independence. Pikoli also recalled a meeting with several ministers where concerns were raised about prosecutions linked to apartheid-era activities. He says some feared that pursuing certain cases could trigger renewed calls to prosecute former liberation movement members for actions before 1994. Suspended SAPS Organized Crime Head Richard Shibiri says he did not get himself involved but was tasked by General Shadrack Sibiya to find out what charges Katiso KT Molefe was arrested on. Shibiri was responding to Evidence Leader Lee Seegels-Ncube's question on his invoment in the arrest of Katiso KT Molefe whilst he was on leave and off duty.
