The Department of Social Development has expressed shock and dismay at a video that has gone viral on social media platforms, which a man is purportedly seen assaulting an elderly woman. Minister Sisisi Tolashe says she has instructed officials to follow up on the information at their disposal to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to book. In a statement, the department noted a concern over the increase in the number of older persons who are abused despite government's efforts to strengthen key guiding legislation and related frameworks.
