The Minister of Finance has determined that Eskom will not be granted a partial exemption from section 55(2)(b)(i) of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) requiring it to disclose irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure and material losses from criminal conduct in its annual financial statements. This is after government reversed the initial decision in April this year, that granted Eskom partial exemption following a public outcry. All government institutions are required by law to report irregular as well as fruitless and wasteful expenditure in their annual report and annual financial statements.
