Death toll soars above 2,000 following air strikes in Sudan

View descriptionShare

About 50 people have been killed when air strikes hit a market in the south of Khartoum in Sudan. The medical charity  Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) says staff have been trying to save the lives of people who suffered horrific injuries. Residents accuse the army of using drones to target the markets. Sudan plunged into a civil war in April after army chief Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Gen Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo fell out. About five million people have been forced to flee their homes, and thousands have been killed. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Sudanese filmmaker and an activist, Abdallah Awad.
