Professor Barney Pityana has  informed Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau of his decision to resign as Board Chair of National Lotteries Commission (NLC). This after helping to stabilize the corruption-hit organization, he leaves with two years of his five-year term remaining. The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) has been marred with alleged corruption and the Democratic Alliance is calling for his swift replacement so that the work to rooting out corruption in that sector can continue. Police in KZN are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder following an incident at a fuel station near a mall in Westville, where one person was found dead inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds and another was found dead after he reportedly got out of the vehicle and fell to death as he allegedly attempted to jump over a wall. Police's preliminary investigations revealed that the BMW vehicle was fitted with cloned number plates. The driver of the BMW vehicle surrendered and was arrested. Lieutenant-General Francinah Ntombenhle Vuma has told the Ad Hoc Committe investigating criminal infiltration, corruption and political interfernce in the justice system that Publlic Works kept on demanding millions for an inhabitable building. The Telkom Towers were purchased in 2016 for nearly R700-million to serve as the headquarters for the South African Police Service in Pretoria. Speaking to evidence leader Lerato Vilakazi, Vuma says only R10 million was spent on the work done on the building
