Today is D-Day for Johannesburg Mayor, Kabelo Gwamanda following his commitment to begin providing much needed services to the residents of Diepkloof hostels in Soweto. Disgruntled residents took to the streets last week barricading the N1, the N12 interchange and the Chris Hani Road with burning tyres, debris and stones. Media and Police vehicles were also attacked and a beer truck was looted. Residents have been protesting over a lack of services in the area which includes the provision of electricity and running water.
