Freedom Park recently hosted a  cultural event aimed at reviving African knowledge systems and celebrating African heritage. Participants deliberated on the understanding and practicing of the African Calendar – Inzalo y'Langa. Led by historian Mkhulu Nsingiza and other esteemed speakers, the program sought to highlight the historical and spiritual importance of the African calendar, creating a platform for educators, historians, and students to reflect on African identity and cultural practices. The ANC National Working Committee meeting called to discuss the challenges facing the KZN Provincial leadership is set to begin shortly at Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg. The meeting follows a visit by the top brass of the ANC to KZN last month to meet with the PEC and regional leaders. This after the election setback in that province which saw the ANC losing its majority with the newly formed MK Party becoming its main rival. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter,  Ntebo Mokobo and Former Gauteng premier, Mbhazima Shilowa

The conclusion of lobola negotiations symbolises the formal union of two families, and once the negotiations are concluded the couple is considered as married under the Recognition of Customary Marriages Act (1998). This also means, unless otherwise stated in an antenuptial contract, couples are in fact married in community of property, and that assets – like a home or car –and liabilities – like debt – are equally shared. While this deeply rooted tradition is widely embraced, fewer people are aware of how customary marriage (or marriage in community of property) can impact current and future homeownership.  Bongiwe Zwane spoke to Director at STBB Attorneys, Hopewell Sathekge
