The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) is set to begin voting for its top six leadership positions after lunch today at its 15th National Congress in Kempton Park. This follows a chaotic start to the congress in September 2026, which collapsed due to fierce leadership factions and eligibility disputes. Out of 12 potential candidates initially selected-two for each position-only 10 remain on the ballot. One candidate declined their nomination, while another was disqualified after being submitted past the deadline. Cosatu President Zingiswa Losi confirmed that the voting process will proceed immediately after the lunch break with unanimous backing from the unions.
