The case against convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester has been postponed to the 16th of May in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court. He is facing a string of charges including escaping from lawful custody, defeating the ends of justice, violation of a dead body and fraud. Bester, together with his girlfriend Dr Nandipha Magudumana returned to South Africa yesterday morning, after their arrest in Arusha, Tanzania, last Friday. Bester escaped from the Mangaung Correctional Centre in the Free State, in May last year.

Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie has requested a formal investigation into the alleged unauthorised use of the Coat of Arms by the Somali Association of South Africa (Sasa). The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture said it had noted what appears to be the Coat of Arms, or a reproduction thereof, being incorporated into the association's logo and branding materials. Somali Association Says No ill Intent In Usage Of SA Coat of Arms. 

Eskom has served the City of Johannesburg with a notice of intention to reduce or entirely terminate its electricity supply. The move comes as the city battles to meet its payment obligations, racking up a massive debt of over five-billion rand over several years. The city has until the fifth of June to pay up an additional amount of 1.5-billion rand.
