Firefighters are faced with extremely challenging conditions as they continue to fight a large fire that has been raging in Simons Town on the Cape Peninsula since Tuesday. About 97 households in Stonehaven were evacuated, as were residents of Scarborough. Several crews are continuing. Police have arrested eleven suspects believed to be part of syndicate that was involved in an attempted theft of a R35m transformer at Laudium substation. The political standoff in Mozambique has intensify.  This as the expected meeting with the four presidential candidates to resolve the post election crisis was postponed. Mozambican President, Fillipe Nyusi convened the meeting with Daniel Chapo from FRELIMO, Ossufo Momade of RENAMO, Lutero Simango from Mozambique Democratic and Independent candidate, Venancio Mondlane . However, Mondlane, who was supposed to attend it virtually, did not, claiming his conditions were not met. Jon Gericke spoke to a Social and Political Activist Women Observatory Director, Quitéria Guirengane

Johannesburg water utility, Joburg Water, says they have stepped up their game  when it comes to water supply  and repair initiatives. Johannesburg Water has  also announced its intention to increase water restrictions to some high demand areas in an bid to quell the ongoing water crisis. This after severe water shortages sparked days of protests in areas including Westbury in Johannesburg. The water utility earlier briefed the media, on what it called aggressive interventions in dealing with water supply challenges. Jon Gericke spoke to WaterCAN Executive Manager, Ferrial Adam
