Auditor-General, Tsakani Maluleke tells Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs that continuing dysfunction in municipalities has led to poor service delivery

Only 34 out of the 257 municipalities in the country have received clean audits. 30 of those have had repeat clean audits, which means that they are repeatedly consistent and compliant in establishing key disciplines to deliver on their mandates. This is according to the Auditor General's office which briefed the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs on the 2022-23 local government audit outcomes earlier.
