Johannesburg Mayor, Kabelo Gwamanda has tendered his resignation following political engagements over the past weeks, which the city says were largely informed by the new political architecture of governance in the country following the 29 May 2024 National and Provincial Elections. Gwamanda becomes the ninth mayor in eight years since the departure of former Mayor Parks Tau, back in 2016. CEO for the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) Wayne Duvenage says Gwamanda's departure is long over due. He was speaking on the Agenda earlier with Ayanda Nyathi. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to ActionSA's caucus leader in the Johannesburg council, Nobuhle Mthembu.
