*Shaneel Lal is a prominent Aotearoa New Zealand journalist, political commentator, and LGBTQIA+ activist dedicated to empowering queer and indigenous communities. They are best known for founding the Conversion Therapy Action Group and successfully leading a five-year movement that banned conversion therapy in 2022. A veteran trustee and board member for organizations like Auckland Pride, Rainbow Youth, and Adhikaar Aotearoa, Lal actively campaigns for inclusive hate speech laws and fair blood donation policies in the face of ongoing bigotry and discrimination.
