U and U has been broadcasting at different Radio Stations throughout Victoria, Australia, for near some 30 years. Originally starting out as 'CEREAL LISTENING', the name change to Uncut and Unsigned came about due to a change in the time slot. The program has been heard at: 3WBC, Boxhill; Highlands FM in Woodend; OAK FM in Wangaratta; Indigo Radio in Beechworth and now at 3MDR in Upwey. The whole ethos behind this program is to give an outlet to unsigned/independent artists from mainly Australia, but also the likes of Denmark, Russia, New Zealand Belgium, The UK and USA. Not only does U and U air independent music, but where able, it advises musos on radio related issues and who to turn to for help in furthering their career. We also endeavour to have artists broadcast live from our studios and if they cannot do that we use ZOOM. Our current team consists of: Mark Hoy (also known as Shippa. 63, a solo musician who plays and records everything himself and is based in NSW), Matt Owen, a local to the area, who is an accredited lighting and sound engineer and ensures the smooth running in the studio and Tony Bates who due to personal reasons, moved to Portarlington but liaises via Zoom; Tony spent a lot of the 60s/70s in bands and hence has a fair insight of band life and needs.
