She once got told her voice was 'too girly'. So she got her own voice coach, kept training and in 2026 Emma Lawrence made history as the first female play-by-play commentator for the NRL. 

She tells us how she survived the newsroom grind, bounced back from multiple rejections and grew to thrive in a very male-dominated area. She's always bubbly, she's always full of ideas, and she's an inspiration to everyone who has ever been told to 'leave the footy to the men'.
