For the first in the 2026 series of Henty podcasts, Jamie & Leigh caught up with Brian Hollingworth of Black Gate Distillery, who'll be exhibiting at Henty this year.

Black Gate Distillery was established in 2009 as the first warm climate whisky distillery in NSW, specialising in Australian single malt whisky and dark rum brewed and distilled on site

Born in Broken Hill, Brian is a fitter machinist and automotive mechanic by trade, school teacher by accident, and distiller by choice.

His background in mechanics gave him an understanding of the distillery process, and a logical and methodical approach to whisky making.
