In this episode, host Clayton McKee speaks with Galician author Fabio Rivas and translator Jonathan Dunne about the short story "Darkie and White Eyes" from the collection The Proper Painting. Written originally in Galician, this story presents the world through the perspective of a blind girl. But the real mystery of the story, is the twist that happens at the end! Our 2025 EUPL Mini-Series finishes this week with our final of three episodes. This interview is with Italian author Nicoletta Verna. In addition to Nicoletta and host Clayton McKee, you hear Debora Vitulano interpreting for us throughout the episode. Hear us discuss Verna's use of history to comment on the present. You can also listen to her reading an excerpt of the novel that won her the title of 2025 EUPL Laureate, I Giorni di Vetro, followed by a reading of the English translation by Catherine Gregor.
