President Trump on Kamala Harris: “An Empty Vessel”

There was once a day when the public schools were seen as crucial engines of democracy and incubators of civic character essential to America’s future. 

Well, those days are gone.

Today, the public schools are usually light years away from that vision. They operate on rules and what are called “best practices” and standardized programs that combine educational failure with ideological capture. It’s a disaster. God bless those teachers, administrators and school board members who continue to fight against the tide, but the tide’s going to win.

The foundational problem is government’s monopoly on education. Your tax monies are confiscated for a hideously expensive public school system that subverts your moral convictions and worldview. And by the way, often fails to educate students. 

You have the right to look for a way to end that government monopoly. 

Parental choice represents one powerful way to push back on that government monopoly.  

In the state of Kentucky, voters face an opportunity to push back by voting for Amendment 2. I’m hoping they do. I will. 

It’s time to break the monopoly and support parents and families.

The Kamala Harris economic agenda is astonishingly bad. She wants to use the coercive power of government to impose price controls on things like food prices. 

Twenty centuries of wage and price controls all tell the same story: price controls lead to shortages. When big government causes inflation, more big government is not the answer. Hayek called this the road to serfdom. 

Government intervention into the market causes a crisis. Instead of rolling back the government intervention, authoritarian government intervenes again, causing a new crisis, and then more intervention to try to fix that. 

And on and on it goes… Until we become serfs serving our government masters. Or until we wake up and realize the problem is government control over our lives.

Harris’ plan represents something far worse than the usual stagnation of Carter, or Obama: It represents possible food shortages. Whatever joy or happy vibes her media machine throws at you, please remember that the iron laws of economics are more powerful than vibes. 

Vote accordingly.
