What we witnessed in Butler, Pennsylvania this past weekend is difficult to capture adequately in words.
It’s a little easier to see clearly what led up to that moment: Top Democratic party officials and the prominent voices in elite media engaging in a pattern of describing Donald Trump and his supporters as dangerous fascists and deplorables—even with comparisons to Hitler.
But what everyone saw in Butler was just one more in a long line of truly, very fine people showing up to display their love affair with America.
Character is most tested in the crucible of crisis. In that crucible Saturday, the wounded President showed strength and resolve while the rally-goers were peaceful, rallying with chants of “USA! USA!”
No riots.
No stampedes.
They helped one another, giving calm responses and interviews to media.
Thank God the bullet missed Trump. Thank God, too, for such great Americans who showed love and patriotism, decency and composure so fitting for our great nation.
