Shortly, the Trump administration will be holding nuclear non-proliferation talks with the mullahs of Iran. Iran, lest we forget, is the leading state sponsor of terrorism in the world whose IRGC and other terror proxies have maimed and killed thousands of Americans and others.
Can Iran's leadership be trusted? Is it willing to forgo its nuclear ambitions? Sane people would question those propositions when it comes to a theologically fundamentalist and oppressive regime, just as the sane thought it the height of negligence for the Obama and Biden administrations to pour and funnel billions of dollars to Iran as bribery to appease the Mullacracy.
Some of you may remember then-Secretary of State John Kerry responding to a question about the money we were sending Iran. Back in 2016 he said, "I think that some of it will end up in the hands of the IRGC or other entities, some of which are labeled terrorists."
Donald Trump has a different view, one of maximum pressure— if any negotiation can work with Iran, it will be from him and this administration. Let us hope.
