Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes once postulated that certain irresponsible “eloquence may set fire to reason.” This is why Chuck Schumer was roundly denounced for publicly threatening Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch that they wouldn’t know what hit them and would release a whirlwind if they ruled in a way the left didn’t want. Still, assassination attempts did follow.
Now: The District Attorney of Philadelphia told an anti-ICE rally—and I quote:
“If we have to hunt you down the way they hunted down Nazis for decades, we will find your identities. We will find you. We will achieve justice.”
This comes after two anti-ICE rioters were already killed, and after violent attacks against ICE agents have soared. The Philadelphia D.A. is openly engaging in homicidal fantasy, and encouragement. Tim Walz has speculated this could be a “Ft. Sumter moment.” Again, his words referring to events that ignited the Civil War.
These Democratic leaders are setting fire to reason. They are not merely being irresponsible; they will cause more bloodshed. They must stop..
