Hugh Hewitt: Trump’s Remarkable Rhetorical Opportunity

View descriptionShare

President Trump’s upcoming Inaugural address will mark his triumphant return. After that, he has before him five big moments on which a great speech can elevate the country and his presidency.

The first is almost upon us: The 250th anniversary of the “Shot Heard Round the World,”—the battles at Lexington and Concord, which occurred on April 19, 1775—the first battle of the American Revolution.

On June 11, 2026, Trump will welcome the world to North America as the World Cup comes to the USA, Mexico and Canada.

The following month, on July 4, 2026, is the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding, the Declaration of Independence in 1776. It will be a big day—indeed a big year, celebrating a quarter Millennium as a country, as a republic.

9/11/2026 marks 25 years since the horrific attacks on our homeland in 2001.

The fifth and final occasion occurs as the Olympics arrive in California in 2028. Trump will be drawing near the end of his remarkable political career—and, indeed, all the eyes of the world will be upon us.
