CNN’s foremost data analyst Harry Enten recently declared Donald Trump the most influential president of this century. Enten backs that up with metrics on tariffs, immigration, and executive orders, but even that may sell short the breathtaking changes over the past six months.
But influence goes beyond data and metrics. Trump has entirely changed the context and conversation at home and abroad. His tough trade negotiations exposed how trading partners exploited the US. Trump’s decision to take out Iran’s nuclear infrastructure reset calculations around the world on the projection of American power.
Here at home, Trump has forced an end to DEI initiatives, fought sanctuary cities, and humbled higher education over its bigotry. Trump has also championed a major backlash against “woke” policies in the public and private sectors, with results already evident in corporate policies and product advertising.
Trump may already be the most consequential president since Ronald Reagan. Imagine what he can do in the remaining 42 months.
