What's the only thing worse than no apology at all? A so-called apology that blames people for taking offense.
The opening ceremonies in Paris for the Olympics offended and outraged people around the world with a blasphemous drag satire of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper. Clips of the tableau, dubbed “The New Gay Testament” by its star, flooded social media and stoked criticism from all corners. Olympics organizers attempted to get platforms to remove the images using dishonest copyright claims, then offered a “sorry if you were offended” non-apology, claiming not to have intended it as a satire of religious faith.
That is clearly a lie.
They fully intended to offend Christians with this garish and insulting parody of their faith.
And they succeeded.
This is not inclusivity or tolerance.
It reveals a deep and abiding hatred for faith, and for the Western culture built largely upon it. And it shows the contempt that the elite have for those who treasure both.
