Joe Biden tried several times to staunch the bleeding in a political and constitutional crisis touched off by his disastrous debate performance. 

A series of media interviews only raised more questions about his cognitive capacity. Now, Democrats raised the pressure on Biden to withdraw from the 2024 election. The White House sent out a letter on Monday with Biden’s signature declaring that he would not willingly relinquish the nomination, in an effort to end the discussion.

However, the shocking exposure of the president’s condition raises the serious question of whether he is actually making these decisions. NBC News reported last week that recently convicted felon Hunter Biden has inserted himself into policy meetings, a change that took place after the debate. Hunter has been the driving force arguing for his father to remain in the race. The Biden family businesses rely on Joe Biden’s connection to power, and Hunter remains a key figure in those operations.
