Hour 1 (11.06) Three men tried to fly 3,000 tarantulas out of Peru stuffed in socks. Plus: the Vincent Thomas Bridge closes for 16 months, and the 91 drops to three lanes for a weekend. 

6:05 — Santa Ana winds bring a Red Flag Warning on Saturday, Nov. 7 to the Santa Clarita Valley, the Santa Monica and Santa Susana mountains, and the western San Gabriels. Power shutoffs are possible, which is why a generator matters. LA County Fire has pre-positioned crews, and Topanga Canyon Boulevard is residents-only between Mulholland and PCH. On the coast, morning king tides above 7 feet raise the risk of coastal flooding. 

6:20 — Peru arrested two Germans and a Polish man trying to check suitcases full of tarantulas, hidden in dozens of socks, onto flights to Europe. A group of tarantulas is called a “cluster.” Morgan Fairchild, 76, the soap star who played Chandler Bing’s mom on Friends, joined OnlyFans and says her content is “not that kind.” That leads into Netflix’s three-part docuseries The One About Matthew Perry. Plus, a nude-in-the-sky story. 

6:35 — For 55 hours, eastbound 91 shrinks to three lanes between the 241 and Green River Road near Corona. Two of the open lanes are toll lanes, and they’re free for everyone during the closure. Caltrans is replacing 82-foot culvert segments so wildlife can cross under the freeway. 

6:50 — The Vincent Thomas Bridge between San Pedro and Terminal Island closed at 12:01 a.m. Nov. 7 for a 16-month, $752.8 million deck replacement. It’s expected to reopen in early 2028.
