Maybe Don’t Fly FlyDubai If You Don’t Want to Die in the Not-So-Friendly Sky

View descriptionShare

Hour 1 (09.30) While California’s gubernatorial hopefuls Xavier Becerra and Steve Hilton go at it, the morning news was a midair near-catastrophe: flydubai FZ1073, Dubai to Tel Aviv, copilot allegedly stabbed the captain and tried to put the jet into Israel. The plane dropped about 14,000 feet in seconds, the wounded captain got the door open, passengers rushed the cockpit, and it diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Everyone lived. Timmy says that cabin just spent a lifetime of luck — El Al or nothing if you’re flying into Israel — and one passenger is claiming he knew how to land a plane from watching TV. Where were the air marshals?

NHL season is officially open. Prop 40, the “billionaire tax,” has already burned through $250 million in ads; California’s got roughly 250 billionaires, and if they bolt, the fine print could land on everybody else. And University of Georgia student Kristin Sargent danced off an eight-story couch-celebration, fell, and lived. Timmy’s old neighbor, an LA County fire captain, swore you might not walk away from the second floor.
