Hour 4 (10.29) Mayor Karen Bass calls in after wiping out Nithya Raman’s 11-point lead. They’re now tied at 40%. Plus, 100 years after his death, what really killed Houdini?

9:05 Mayor Karen Bass calls in. The new Berkeley IGS/LA Times poll has her and Councilmember Nithya Raman at 40% each, with 19% undecided. In September Raman led 39% to 28%. Plus, what the mayor orders at In-N-Out.

9:20 High tides flooded the International Boardwalk in Redondo Beach this week. Brent Reger of Project Barley Taps & Grill kept the doors open behind sandbags, and he wants you to come down anyway.

9:35 Gabe Fajuri, president of Potter & Potter Auctions, on “Houdini Returns: The Centennial Auction.” It’s 100 rare items from Kevin Connolly’s collection, many of them owned by Houdini himself, and they go up for sale at the Magic Castle in Hollywood on Oct. 31, the 100th anniversary of his death.

9:50 Was it the punch to the stomach? A ruptured appendix? Fajuri weighs in on how Houdini really died, and on a new book by a surgeon, Houdini: The Man Who Died Twice, that argues the official story is wrong.
